Overview
This is the complete way to experience the total solar eclipse of 2 August 2027. Over nine unhurried days you follow the Nile from Cairo to Abu Simbel, timing your arrival in Luxor so that you stand among the great temples of Thebes at the exact moment the sun disappears.
The journey opens with the Pyramids of Giza and the Grand Egyptian Museum, continues with a four-night Nile cruise between Luxor and Aswan, and closes at the colossal rock temples of Abu Simbel. Throughout, a private Egyptologist, a personal driver and carefully chosen hotels and cruise ship make the trip as easy as it is memorable.

On arrival at Cairo International Airport you are met by your Travista representative, assisted through the formalities and driven to your hotel in a private vehicle. The remainder of the day is free to relax before the journey begins. Overnight in Cairo.

After breakfast your Egyptologist takes you to the Giza Plateau to stand before the Great Pyramid, the pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure, and the Great Sphinx. Following lunch you explore the Grand Egyptian Museum and the complete treasures of Tutankhamun. Overnight in Cairo. (Breakfast, Lunch)

A morning flight takes you south to Luxor. On the West Bank you visit the vivid reliefs of the mortuary temple of Medinet Habu and the artisans’ village of Deir el-Medina, a quieter corner of ancient Thebes. Overnight in Luxor. (Breakfast)

This is the day you came for. After exploring the vast temple complex of Karnak, your guide positions you for the total solar eclipse of 2 August 2027, when the sky over Thebes turns to night in the middle of the afternoon. Cross to the West Bank for the Valley of the Kings, the terraced Temple of Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon, then return to the cruise as it sets sail towards Edfu. Overnight aboard. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

An early excursion brings you to the colossal rock temples of Abu Simbel, carved for Ramses II. You then disembark and fly back to Cairo for your final night. Overnight in Cairo. (Breakfast)
