With your private English Egyptologist guide, walk through galleries filled with ancient artifacts and explore remarkable collections from Egypt’s Pharaonic era. Among the highlights are the treasures of King Tutankhamun, including his golden jewelry, funerary mask, and personal belongings that have survived in extraordinary condition for over 3,000 years.
After the museum visit, continue to the Citadel of Salah al-Din, one of Cairo’s most celebrated Islamic monuments. Inside this historic stronghold, tour the Alabaster Mosque of Mohamed Ali, admired for its Ottoman architectural style and its distinctive presence above the city. As you explore, learn how the Citadel served for centuries as a key seat of power for Egypt’s rulers.
Following lunch at a local restaurant, head to Coptic Cairo to experience some of the city’s most important Christian-era sites. Visit the Hanging Church, built above the Roman fortress of Babylon, and then continue to the Church of St. Sergius, traditionally associated with the Holy Family’s refuge during their time in Egypt.
