Arrival in AlUla – The Desert Dream Begins
Upon arrival at AlUla Airport, you will be welcomed by your local guide and transferred to your hotel for check-in and relaxation. AlUla is a remarkable open-air museum filled with ancient inscriptions, rock dwellings, and tombs from the Nabatean and Dedanite civilizations, reflecting the region’s historical significance during the Greco-Roman era. Nestled in Medina Province, about 350 kilometers northwest of Medina city, AlUla stands as a living testament to Arabia’s rich past.

After breakfast, meet your private guide at the hotel lobby to begin a full-day exploration. Start with a photo stop at the Maraya Theatre, the world’s largest mirrored structure, before continuing to the UNESCO-listed site of Hegra. Once known as Al Hijr, this Nabatean city was a key stop along ancient trade routes and features over 100 rock-cut tombs and archaeological remains. Visit landmarks such as the Nabatean Well, Qasr Al Bint, Diwan Tomb, and Al Farid Palace. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before heading to AlUla Old Town to learn about its history and traditional life. Continue to the AlJadidah Arts District, a vibrant area filled with colorful murals, art galleries, and the world’s largest hand-painted carpet. As the day ends, travel to the iconic Elephant Rock, a natural sandstone formation shaped by wind and water over millennia. Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before setting out to explore Dadan and Jabal Ikmah. Dadan was once the capital of the Dadanite and Lihyanite Kingdoms, while nearby Jabal Ikmah is often described as an open-air library, home to the largest collection of ancient inscriptions in AlUla. Continue to Harrat Uairedh for panoramic views of the surrounding desert and mountains. After lunch at a local restaurant, head to Sharaan Nature Reserve for an off-road adventure. Begin with a short safety briefing, then embark on a 4WD journey through the reserve’s dramatic red-rock canyons and valleys.
